What is a gourmet restaurant ?

What is a gourmet restaurant ?

It is largely thanks to the Michelin Guide and Gault & Millau that travelers and gourmets of the world over can discover a selection of restaurants. These gastronomic hotel and tourist guides offer a new selection every year. From inns to palaces, from local bistros to exceptional restaurants, the establishments featured in these guides constitute a repertoire able to satisfying every taste. They are undoubtedly the benchmarks for expertise in French and international gastronomy.

Great finesse and a pinch of the spectacular

Gastronomic restaurants don't just offer exceptional cuisine; part of their prestige also resides in their location, their decoration, the standard of their service and the daring and spectacular aspect of their culinary creations. Most of the time, chefs in gourmet restaurants create dishes based on traditional recipes that they revisit according to their tastes, their imagination, their background and their history. They bring cuisine to life, mixing different eras, cultures and countries to achieve stunning results. Part of this gastronomy also lies in the art of staging, whether on the plates or during the meal, when the waiters intervene to flambé certain foods, garnish the dishes with their sauce, serve the wine, and so on.

A gastronomic meal is a veritable choreography of flavors, colors and gestures, skillfully orchestrated and prepared by the chef.

WHY EAT IN A GOURMET RESTAURANT?

The whole point of dining in a restaurant is to discover unique flavors in an enchanting setting enhanced by royal service.

Discovering new flavors

In a gourmet restaurant, the dishes you taste represent the DNA of the chef who created them. These dishes are unique, unusual and creative. Each dish bears the stamp of an assertive culinary personality.

The pleasure of delicate French service

As well as the exquisite dishes served, in a gastronomic restaurant you can enjoy the pleasure of excellent service in a dream setting. The dishes follow one another as if by magic, and the wine is perfectly matched to the dishes and your personal tastes. The waiters take great care to ensure that your meal is tailor-made and surprising, to your great delight.

THE GASTRONOMIC RESTAURANTS OF CHÂTEAU DE LA GAUDE

At Château de la Gaude we have two gourmet restaurants that stand out for their sophisticated cuisine and unrivalled precision and discretion of service.

Le Art

Set in our magnificent 18th-century Provençal bastide, our Michelin-starred gourmet restaurant Le Art is particularly attractive for its large terrace overlooking our formal gardens and vineyards. The interior, with its mix of traditional parquet flooring and moldings and contemporary art with its paintings and designer architecture, is no less spectacular than the exterior. The kitchen opens onto the 'Chef's Room', where a few privileged diners can watch the dishes being prepared. The Provençal cuisine is revisited and enhanced with exotic flavors that our two chefs, Matthieu Dupuis Baumal and Matthieu Derible, know all about.

Le Kaiseki

In our Japanese gourmet restaurant, our chefs Matthieu Dupuis Baumal and Kazunari Noda work in tandem to bring you daring cuisine with unexpected and explosive combinations. This new gastronomic venue takes diners on a culinary journey. Inspired by the Kyoto region, the gastronomic capital of Japan, this restaurant blends modern, elegant cuisine with Japanese and European touches.

The special feature of this restaurant is that it offers a unique menu every month. The Omakase menu is a traditional menu that gives way to the inspirations of our chefs as the seasons change. Omakase means "I leave it to you". We like to keep the contents of this menu a mystery. This choice is part of the gastronomic experience we offer, to immerse you as deeply as possible in the discreet and delicate culture of Japan. In this restaurant, in addition to the classic service of a gourmet restaurant, there are a few Japanese traditions, such as the tea ceremony at the end of each meal, to ensure that the guest has the most immersive experience possible.

Matthieu Dupuis Baumal, our executive chef

Behind this surprising cuisine and refined dishes lies a chef with an assertive culinary personality and refined experience. His extensive travels around the world have enabled him to achieve this explosive fusion of different cultures in his cuisine.

So are you ready to come and experience the unique culinary journeys on offer in our gourmet restaurants ?
